4.6 Risk Behavior
4.6.1 Smoking
It is accepted that smoking directly affects health condition of people
who smoke and indirectly affects to those who are around. The government has
a big campaign to raise an awareness of people for the danger of smoking.
With this, many legal actions have been released, such as prohibition to smoke
in public areas and working places.
Proportion of people smoking declined slightly from 18.5 % in 2007 to
16.6% in 2013, it showed that population have not yet been fully aware of the
effects of smoking, so the government should give priority in accelerating and
increasing public awareness in smoking continuously.
In considering by sex, proportion of female’s smoking increased
from 1.6% in 2007 to 1.7% in 2013. Also the average age in starting to smoke
decreased slightly from 18.6 years in 2007 to 17.9 years in 2013; male started
smoking ; about 3- 4 years earlier than female.
For the number of rolls of the cigarette smoked per day it showed
that male smoked 11 rolls per day and 9 rolls for female.
4.6.2 Drinking
Drinking behavior is a major cause of various diseases and road
accidents; it also impacts on work and relationship in the family. Statistics showed
that proportion of drinking alcohol by population aged 15 years and over slightly
increased from 29.3 % in 2007 to 32.2 % in 2013. Male obviously drank more than
female from 51.0% in 2007 to 54.0% in 2013, while female’s drinking increased from
8.8%in 2007 to 11.8% in 2013.
