Social Indicators 2013
1.2 Migration and Urbanization
1.2.1 Migration
Migration is a demographic phenomenon with a strong impact on
population change. Due to the demand for housing, job opportunities,
education and family reasons then people move out from the residences to
somewhere suitable to their needs. Most of the migrants were adolescence
and young workers, rather than other groups.

Migration in Thailand appears to be temporarily relocated and
seasonal migration. From the 2013 Migration Survey, it showed that the migration
of the population was 1.7% which decreased from 2012 (2.1%). The reasons of
migration were such as following the family, getting back to home town. It was
noticeable that male migrated more than female.
