Social Indicators 2013
A Support of the Elderly
Under the situation of aging society, the government of Thailand
needs to know some indicators to indicate how to better support the elderly.
These indicators are dependency ratio, calculated by the number of elderly
(aged 60 years and over) divided by the number of working aged group population
(aged 15-59 years), the figure showed that 100 persons of working aged group
could support 21 older persons in 2013
1/
and estimated to be 46 persons in 2030
2/
.
Meanwhile, the dependency ratio of children means the number of
children (aged 0-14 years) per population of working aged group, which declined
from 27 in 2013
1/
to 25 per 100 persons of working aged group in 2030
2/
,
resulted from the low birth rates.
